Granada December 22nd, Day 6 by Bryan

Have you have had a ā€œout of body experience? Like you are watching yourself in slow motion?ā€ Was what Marianne asked us all as we were giving her the frozen bag of peas…. More on that little later

Today was our last day in the beautiful town of Granada. Don’t get us wrong, Barcelona was indeed amazing, but the feel of Granada has left our hearts full and minds a little more enlightened after learning some of the cultural history of the city and country.

We have had some jam packed days thus far on our trip, so today was a little bit of slower paced. In the days previous, we got out the door around 9… I don’t think I got out of bed until 9:51 am! I guess our bodies needed the rest.

After enjoying our slow start, it was time to get it in gear!!!! We walked to AlbaicĆn, the other historic neighborhood/area of Granada. As we learned from days previous, the Moorish influence could still be felt here.

It was time for the family to get coffee, we needed some after walking the many hills to get to top of AlbaicĆn. Plus a little coffee I found before partaking in the ā€œSpanish Yogaā€ aka Siesta aka nap time, is a nice way of life.

As Marianne led the way, she enjoyed seeing the beautiful scenery, cute shops, and she admired the cobblestone streets. What she did not see was the 1 inch step on her path.

One second she was up in front of us, and the next thing I hear is ā€œMom!ā€ from Jacob, a curse word yelled a little to load by myself, and David and Mackenzie both asking ā€œwhat happened?ā€

Luckily Marianne is like the Bumble from Rudolf. Especially since ā€œbumbles bounce!ā€. Additionally we were lucky that she fell on her side before hitting her head on the side wall. Thanks to Jacob for studying to become a nurse and for running to get the peas.

Marianne is okay, some bumps and bruises gained. She was able to enjoy the rest of our walk throughout AlbaicĆn, as we visited some truly amazing local shops and bought some souvenirs from local artists.

That night, although the food here has been amazing, we wanted something simple. Mackenzie and I made some chicken and pasta šŸ. It was yummy!!!!

We ended the night with a few games of Gnoming Around and Doctor Who Flux. It was quite the good game night for myself. All in all Granada has been quite possibly one of the coolest places I have ever been. We are all a little sad to be leaving, but we are so excited for our next stop on our Spanish Adventure!

Ronda here we come!!!!!

  1. Where does one find a bag of frozen peas on the streets of Granada? I’m very glad Bumbles bounce.
